Domen Kodrič is from Maribor, a historian and Viking history enthusiast, and a prominent member of the Maistrov Marpurgov tribe where he acts as Thor’s favourite – warrior, chainmail maker, skald and poet. In 2025 his debut historical‑fantasy novel Southern Viking was published by Pivec Publishing House, blending historical facts and Norse mythology into an epic saga where Bjorn Ironjaw battles human and supernatural foes—and ponders: what if the Vikings didn’t stop in southern Italy, but were beckoned by the northern Adriatic, even drawn to the slopes of Triglav? Domen will also present a unique skald performance to close.

Join a playful workshop discovering the basic principles of the camera obscura, a simple optical device projecting the outside world onto an internal surface. Under the expert guidance of Gregor Salobir, participants will build their own camera obscura, decorate it creatively, and explore charming nooks of the courtyard at Vojašniški trg 6. Each participant will take their unique creation home! Suitable for ages 8+, parental supervision encouraged.

Houses that once housed over 30 people under today’s unimaginable standards, outhouses on sticks, pit latrines draining into the Drava River, dusty‑mud roads, and even an unexploded bomb resting halfway in water ... Lent was a different world. Join us for the launch of the Lent Then and Now exhibition featuring everyday photographs by Leon Joska and Karl Leskovar and an exceptional documentary by Viljem Klemenčič. The opening includes a conversation with creators and a film screening, hosted by Vid Kmetič and Rok Kajzer. The exhibition runs until 24 June 2025 – open Saturday 10:00‑12:00 & 17:00‑20:00, Sunday & Monday 17:00‑20:00.

For over a decade, Studio Birka at Gosposka 28 has enlivened its courtyard with creative craft workshops—from felting since 2012 to clay shaping in recent years. Potter Mateja invites you to a calm, meditative pottery‑wheel experience. Under her guidance, you can craft your own cup or bowl as a lasting memento. Join us for an afternoon of creativity, relaxation, and connection. Suitable for children aged 6+ and adults, no experience required.

Singer‑songwriters Andrej Vilčnik & Ida Harc—from the same corner of the world—began performing together in 2016 at Kantovanje in Maribor and formed their duo soon after. ZveN – Zvezdana Novaković is a versatile musician and performer, moving between ethnomusic to theatrical soundtracks to electronica. Across a bold ten years she has worked with Laibach, Makarovič, in Bulgaria to Brazil, from ancient traditions to puppetry to opera and jazz. Her voice — ZveN — unites it all. “ZVEN aka Zven” is a solo sound performance built from voice, harp, electronics and composition, fusing ancient and modern into a timeless ancestral song.

OMA AND THE FIR MILLENNIUM

“I greet you from tomorrow’s lands, seen by farming souls on their flight over the world.” (Fabrizio De André, Anime Salve) Oma awakens but her body won’t move, feeling a clash within. That is when she meets the fir—six millennia in the ground—found in Čadrg and made into a lyre, drum and whistle by Jani & Gorazd Kutin. Made of the same essence: time that sings. In this performance, Nataša Kramberger and Samo Kutin will breathe voice and ancient instruments to life—hurdy‑gurdy, harmonium, and bass harp crafted by Samo himself.
